Guy Richardson - Dangerous Dogs Expert Witness Services



Guy Richardson has worked as a professional dog handler, trainer, dog behaviourist and dangerous dog’s assessor for 35 years.  He has 50 year’s experience handling dogs.
He served as a Police Officer in Merseyside Police for 20 years spending 17 years working as a Police Dog Handler and trainer.

Since retiring from the Police in 1993 he has operated his own business, West Lancs Canine Centre, specialising in dog training and dog behaviour modification, dealing with all forms inter dog and inter human aggression.  Guy has been the dog training and behaviour consultant for the highly respected charity Animals in Need since 1992.  

In 2001 he was appointed the dog training and behaviour consultant for the Liverpool Branch of the RSPCA.  In 2010 he retired from running the dog training centre, concentrating on his work as a dog behaviourist and dangerous dog assessor.

In the last 5 years Guy has been instructed by solicitors and clients nationwide to perform behavioural and or breed type assessments on 229 dogs, 148 Pit Bull Type dogs, 2 Dogo Argentino dogs and 78 other breeds of dog. He has a thorough working knowledge of the law in relation to dogs.

The service he offers extends to the rehabilitation and further training of dogs seized under the provisions of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 & 1997 when they are returned to their owners subject to strict control orders issued by the courts.

Over the last 3 years Guy has prepared 170 reports for the courts of this country and has given evidence on over 100 occasions in Dangerous Dog related cases at hearings and trials in the Magistrates’ Courts, Crown Courts and in Appeals to the Crown Court, nationwide. He has prepared comprehensive reports for both prosecution and defence cases. He provides a thorough, reliable and professional service and if required can provide references from solicitors and clients.

WEST LANCS CANINE CENTRE ENTRANCE
Established in 1989 by Guy + Jean Richardson, West Lancs Canine Centre is located in Formby, Liverpool, near Southport on the border of Merseyside and West Lancashire, North West England, United Kingdom. We are 30 minutes drive from both Mersey Tunnels.

Situated in 7 acres of secure, floodlit training grounds the centre was extended and extensively modernised in 2002, with a new indoor training area.

Owned & run by Craig Richardson, the centre offers first class canine training and instruction in a relaxed friendly atmosphere and provides a comprehensive range of puppy training and adult dog training classs / courses. Guy Richardson has been working and training dogs of all breeds as a full-time professional dog trainer and behaviourist for 36 years. For many years he has been puppy, dog training and dog behaviour consultant tothe Liverpool Branch of the RSPCA and Animals in Need in Melling. Guy works as a consultant to West Lancs Canine Centre and as a dangerous dogs assessor, having retired from running the centre in June 2010.

We offer dog and puppy behaviour counselling clinics at the centre & at the RSPCA animal shelter at Halewood, Liverpool, Merseyside.

Guy can help if you and your dog are the subject of civil or
criminal proceedings. With his experience he is recognised as an expert witness and can assess your dog and provide a comprehensive report for the court. He can assist in Dangerous Dogs Act prosecutions and had a thorough knowledge of Dog Law.

Guy is a dangerous dog expert in dealing with all aspects of dog aggression and assists may owners deal with inter-dog or inter-human aggression. Over the last 5 years he has assessed 231 dangerous dogs for the courts, nationwide. This total consists of 148 Pit Bull type dogs, 2 Dogo Argentino dogs, 1 Japanese Tosa dog and 80 dogs of various breeds. The owners of these dogs had been charged with offences contrary to Section 1 or Section 3 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 or Section 2 of the Dogs Act 1871.
